Yes — Val Gardena is one of the four valleys on the Sella Ronda ski circuit, alongside Alta Badia, Arabba/Fodom, and Val di Fassa. You can ski the full 40km loop in a day with one Dolomiti Superski pass.

From Ortisei, take the Seceda cable car (two stages, about 15 minutes total) to 2,500m. The viewpoint with the famous serrated ridge is a 10-minute walk from the top station. Go early — by mid-morning in summer it's busy with photographers.

Both, plus Ladin — an ancient Rhaeto-Romance language spoken by about 30,000 people in the Dolomite valleys. Most locals are trilingual. Place names appear in all three: Ortisei (Italian), St. Ulrich (German), Urtijëi (Ladin).

Late June and early September are the sweet spots — full lift access, good weather, no Italian school holidays. Avoid Ferragosto (August 15 week) when the whole valley is packed. Winter low season is mid-January after Epiphany.
